Course Description |
| This course will provide an overview of the Criminal Justice System to include: Law Enforcement, Courts, Prosecution, Corrections, and Juvenile Justice. The student will experience simulations and practical laboratory work in finger prints, health and fitness requirements, basic CPR and Standard First Aid Training, Crime Scene Investigation, Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) operation, traffic operation (including radar and vehicle stops), the study of controlled substances and mock trials. Field trips may include visits to local courts, a prison, a county jail, a 911 center and a state police post. Guest speakers will be utilized to present criminal justice vocational options and real life applications of classroom information. Students wishing to take a second year of Criminal Justice must have the instructor's approval. |

Articulation Agreement
Tech Prep students completing one year of Criminal Justice will be eligible, upon meeting certain guidelines and upon graduation from high school, to receive advanced credit at West Shore Community College.
- TLCJ 100 - Introduction to Criminal Justice - 3 cr.
- TLCJ 211 - Juvenile Delinquency - 3 cr.
